Andrew Higgott taught the history and theory of architecture for the over thirty years, primarily at the Architectural Association and at the University of East London, where he co-ordinated architectural history and theory teaching and ran an MA course on architectural theory. Based in London and living in the Barbican, he has also lectured at Cornell University, M.I.T., Tokyo University of the Arts, Royal College of Art , RIBA and many other universities.
As well as numerous other articles and essays, he has published three full length books- Mediating Modernism (2007) on British modern architecture and the published media- and co-edited Camera Constructs (2012) on the theory, practice and history of the relationship of architecture and photography. His book Key Modern Architects: Fifty short histories was published by Bloomsbury in 2018, and described by Simon Sadler as an 'enjoyable, focused, thoughtful and highly-informed book.' He is also a photographer, and his architectural photographs have been published in numerous books including his own. From time to time they have been exhibited and sometimes sold. Andrew currently adds architectural photography posts to Instagram @higgottandrew .
