Andrew Higgott has taught the history and theory of architecture for the past thirty years, primarily at the Architectural Association and at the University of East London, where he co-ordinated architectural history and theory teaching and ran an MA course on architectural theory. Based in London and living in the Barbican, in recent years he has lectured at Cornell University, M.I.T., Tokyo University of the Arts, Royal College of Art , RIBA and elsewhere.
As well as numerous other articles and essays, he has published three full length books- Mediating Modernism (2007) on British modern architecture and the published media- and co-edited Camera Constructs (2012) on the theory, practice and history of the relationship of architecture and photography. His book Key Modern Architects: Fifty short histories was published by Bloomsbury in 2018, and described by Simon Sadler as an 'enjoyable, focused, thoughtful and highly-informed book.'
This website includes an academic profile, as well as extracts of published writings which represent long term interests in architecture and photography, in British modernist architectural culture, and in the architecture of Brazil, that continue to be developed.
